Kumon Math and English Reading Center is a Japanese company dedicated to provide mastery programs to students. The company has branches in almost all countries from Kumon Philippines to Kumon Singapore, Kumon North America to Kumon Hong Kong.
Kumon Tutorials are not actually concentrating on teaching and helping students with their assignments or in learning their day to day lessons. The Kumon founder, Toru Kumon, believed that the most effective way to make students become competitive is to instill mastery skills from the earliest possible stage. Therefore, Kumon Philippines students are given work sheets that they do on site and at home. These worksheets are not in any way related to their current school lessons. The worksheets’ levels are based on a separate diagnostic result of where the students has a mastery of a specific Kumon Math or Kumon Reading level. For example, even if the student is in grade 6 and the result of his diagnostic test puts him in Grade 3 mastery level, then he has to start working on the worksheets for Kumon Math or Kumon Reading in the grade 3 level. This will continue until he reaches his own grade school level in Grade 6. Therefore, Kumon Tutorials require investment in time, effort and money in order to reap the full benefits.

The tuition for a month at twice a week attendance is about 1,500+ pesos. Grade school, high school and college students have varying tuition per month depending on a Kumon Center’s management.

Kumon Philippines has a wide branch presence in Metro Manila. Some of the well known branches are Kumon Fairview Lagro Center, Kumon Project 4, Kumon Tierra Pura, Kumon Celebrity Ayala Heights Center, Kumon Bright Site Mandaluying and Kumon Shaw Wack Wack Center. You can take a look at all Kumon Philippines centers here. You may also find the branches’ contact number in the same list.

  1. So has the school found good attendance numbers? Do they have a program to bring in students that cannot afford it otherwise? Does the school have a special focus on language?

  2. There are some branches like Fariview and Tierra Pura that have really good number of students, say like 100 and up. Well, it really seems Kumon is only for those well-off individuals who can pay for the tuition but they have free trial every September, running about 2 weeks. English is the language version of Kumon Math.
