Last week I received a call from Philam Plans Philippines. The call was not really mine but for my mother. However she was not around that time so I answered for her.
An agent of Philam Plans Cubao told me that my mother qualifies for a Philam Plans Free Insurance. Yes, he said it is for free. Of course I did not bite the bait because there are no real free things in this world except death. Sorry he can’t fool me. I asked the guy how he was able to obtain information about my mom and our phone number and he said it was through referral, pretty neat huh.
The Phialm Plans Free Insurance supposedly covers accidental and death insurance for my mom up to age 60. Now this is truly unbelievable and is not a good script. How can one Insurance company, a giant, can afford to provide Free insurance when all other companies have been closing due to bankruptcy. I asked again the guy how they can do this and told me that it is just Philam’s marketing strategy to prove that they are stable unlike other insurance companies. Makes sense but I still didn’t buy it. Luckily I was able to ask my uncle who had the same call but he went to Philam Plans Makati to get his free insurance. It was indeed true according to him but the worth of his certificate was only P30,000 valid for 30 days. What the F! 30 days? What will happen to you in 30 days? Unless you inject yourself with a concentrated dengue concoction or extend your limbs beyond MRT’s yellow line then you can use the 30K smiling.
These Philam Insurance Agents are desperate. They should have created a better script. My uncle regretted going to Philam Plans Makati. It was not worth his time and gas. In the end, I did not claim my mother’s Philam Plans Free Insurance. I told this to my mother and she was also anxious to claim it. I was asked to bring my credit card and 2 IDs for identification. Only fools will bite this setup. I am pretty sure once I get to the office, they will simply ask for referrals and the cycle goes on. Do not get carried away with free offers, they are merely tools for marketing.
