USB Flash Drive Undetected in Windows
It is so amazing that today’s storage devices can now fit into your pocket. These are called flash drives. Most of us refer to it as USB but hey, USB is the port of your PC and not the device itself. These storage are appropriately called Flash Drives or Portable Flash Drives.
Most of them use the USB port of desktop computers for you to transfer or retrieve data. But what if suddenly your computer is not able to detect your USB flash drive? In short USB Flash drive undetected in windows. What should you do?
There are only two possible explanations why your USB flash drive is not detected by your computer or by Windows. The first one may have to do with the USB port of your computer. If you have plugged in your USB flash drive and you cannot see the drive on your My Computer, then probably your computer USB voltage output is not sufficient to read the drive. This is possible even if you see the cloud pop up near your Windows desktop clock saying “New hardware detected”.
There are cases when these USB ports cannot supply the necessary voltage rating so Windows won’t be able to know that you have plugged in a drive and read it. Usually, these problems arise when you plug your drive at the front USB ports of your CPU. Solution? Try plugging it at the back of your CPU because theoretically these ports have more voltage ratings to supply. If this still does not work, you can opt to purchase a special cable that will connect to any two of your desktop USB ports and output to your flash drive. This will make it possible to add up two voltage ratings of two USB ports and supply it to your flash drive. On the other hand, if these setups still won’t work, then maybe your USB flash drive is defective or is corrupted. Sorry but the last resort is to purchase a new one. Hope this simple USB Drive troubleshooting helps.
